It’s a delicious and light snack that is available at any of the food stalls throughout the city. Another must-eat in Seminyak is a Balinese Waffle. Your first bite will have you hooked from the first bite. If you’re looking for a heartier meal, you can’t go wrong with grilled fish. It’s another Bali favorite and will be sure to please your taste buds. Before I became a vegetarian this was one my my favorite places to grab a steak, complete with some complimentary sides. The beef is aged to perfection and cooked just how you want it to be. One of the things that I often find in Asian countries is that they don’t really quite grasp how to do a great steak. This sacred active volcano lies in Kintamani District in Bali’s central highlands, about an hour’s drive from Ubud. The hike, along well-marked trails, is relatively easy and usually takes about two to three hours. Guided treks typically include a picnic breakfast, with eggs cooked by the steam from the active volcano. On a clear day, the views are spectacular, stretching all the way across the Batur caldera; the surrounding mountain range; and beautiful Lake Batur, the island’s main source of irrigation water. Sturdy hiking shoes are essential, and it’s advisable to wear layers, as the temperature can be cool before sunrise. You can also combine a trip here with a visit to one of Bali’s most important temples, Pura Ulun Danu Batur, on the lake’s northwest shore, and a therapeutic soak in hot springs at the beautiful village of Toya Bungkah on the banks of Lake Batur.
Kuta is known as the party capital of Bali and it’s very very westernized. When I first visited years ago, there was no beach shopping mall with designer stores, a range of fabulous beachfront restaurants, no no, and when I visited in 2019, I was actually shocked by just how “not Bali” that Kuta is! But saying that, if you’re craving something more Americanized, or you want to go clubbing, then Kuta is a good place to be. Seminyak is one of the great places to visit in Bali for couples. Seminkyak for me has a little more class and sophistication to it and it’s home to a strip of the best beach bars and restaurants in Bali. It’s probably one of my favourite places in Bali to visit. Made famous by the book and movie Eat, Pray, Love, Ubud is also the epicenter of Balinese art and culture. This is where the modern Balinese art movement was born, with the surrounding royal palaces and temples acting as the main patrons. Today, several excellent local museums and galleries celebrate its evolution and traditions. Art gazing is particularly rewarding here, as many collections are housed in traditional Balinese buildings surrounded by serene tropical gardens. For an overview of Balinese art, your first stops should be Agung Rai Museum of Art (ARMA) and the Neka Art Museum, which lie within a short stroll of the Ubud Monkey Forest. Collections at both include works ranging from traditional to contemporary, including kris (ceremonial daggers), photography, and classical wayang (puppet-figure) paintings. Other art galleries and museums in the Ubud area that might be of interest to art lovers include Setia Darma House of Masks & Puppets featuring ceremonial masks from Asia and beyond; Museum Puri Lukisan, spanning a range of Balinese artistic styles; and the Don Antonio Blanco Museum, at the artist’s former home and studio.
Constructed in 1634 by the kind of Mengwi dynasty so as to honor his ancestors, the Pura Taman Ayun, translated to Beautiful Garden is an ancient temple located in Mengwi, Bali. The gateway of the Temple is beautifully ornamented and leads to a beautiful fountain that sprouts water through its nine jets. These nine jets represent the nine gods in the Hindu Pantheon. There is an old world charm to this place like it belongs to a time of past and perhaps that is the reason why visitors flock here throughout the whole year. Among the 7 sea temples each within eyesight of the next, is Tanah Lot Temple tour. Situated on a large rock, it is one of the most iconic Bali tourist attractions for photography and exoticism. A small town in the southwestern coast of Bali, Seminyak is famous for its high-end boutiques, and five-star restaurants among Bali tourist attractions. With a treacherous surf, it offers a perfect adventure with a panoramic background. Things to do: Indulge in cheap daily massage; watch the gorgeous sunset; shop; chill out at the pool parties; pose at Bali Trick Art Gallery; surf the seas; feel blessed at the Pura Petitenget temple.
