Comment plugin for WordPress and non CMS websites

JointComments is a Disqus comment like system, a free comment solution for WordPress. Adding a comment widget to your website has a lot benefits, and we will talk about them in this post.

One of the biggest drawbacks of comments is spam. You can usually recognize it by the strange “from” names. These will often have odd, nonsensical phrases in the comment box. You will almost always get spam from bots, no matter how big or small your blog is. But spammers are fairly noticeable. The good news is that these comments are relatively easy to moderate. If you have a WordPress blog, for example, you can set your discussion comments to filter out spam bots. Human spammers, on the other hand, are a little harder to suss out. They tend to have normal names and may even be legitimate followers of your blog. But instead of responding to questions or the topic of the post, they’re only really interested in posting links back to their own site. They’re the “check-me-outs” of the commenter world.

Bottom Line: Comments are Nice to Have, Not a Necessity. Since blog comments don’t have a huge effect on your traffic, they don’t have a huge effect on your revenue either. So you don’t need to stress out about the number of comments that you get or don’t get. Comments can be used to further relationships with your existing readership, provide social proof, or to elicit feedback. As you can see, we allow comments ourselves, and we take the time to respond to many of the comments we receive. However, it is completely up to your own personal preference. If your comments section is causing you a lot of time, money or stress, and your readers aren’t getting much value from it, then maybe you should consider removing it.

It makes commenting great for the lazy. I have to admit something. Today everyone is lazy. We want to do things in less clicks. We want to type without picking up our fingers (Swype). So today’s websites/blogs can not afford to have a long tedious process for commenting. Its our job to make it as simple as possible for anyone to put their thoughts down. Almost everyone is logged into JointComments as soon as they power on their computers. So with JointComments comments, they dont have to do anything more. Works just great!
